So you’re thinking of making a purchase camping gear online for the first time, and you want to find out more about the online outdoor retail store, Outdoor Megastore. I’ve put together all the things you need to know, including some responses from customers of theirs.
What is the Outdoor Megastore?
The business is located in a 26,000 foot warehouse in Bootle, Merseyside, UK. They specialize in ski, camping, caravanning and outdoor gear, and claim to be the largest online retailer in the UK, and have dominated the market since 1999 when they first went online. This alone is a good sign as to customer satisfaction, as they have received a lot of repeat business (they claim to have had over a quarter of a million repeat customers in the last 10 years), but of course, they also have their detractors. More on that later.
You can purchase online, over the phone or in person, and they deliver to anywhere in the world. The postage begins at 12 pounds, but can be much more, depending on the product where you are sending it to. The outdoor megastore has a wide range of gear, usually over 2500 products on offer. If you buy over a certain amount of stock (100 pounds worth), they will deliver it free within the UK. They have, in the past, been voted by an online review site, the best place to buy outdoor equipment on the internet, but the results of online reviews should always be questioned.
Outdoor Megastore Competitors
The outdoor camping retailers market has become quite crowded. Although outdoormegastore has the edge, many other stores are catching up fast. The ones that offer international delivery are as follows:
Webtogs – free to the rest of Europe for purchases exceeding £150.
Field and Trek – to Europe and the rest of the world. This starts at £11.95
Facewest – to Europe, starting at £5.95.
Simply Hike – calculated by the country and the weight of the item.
Cotswold Outdoor – all of Europe, starting at £7.50, rest of world costs more.
Wiggle – will ship for free to any country if your order is more than £100.
OutdoorGear.co.uk – delivers anywhere in world, from £12.40 up.
Alpkit – all of Europe based on weight and country.
Outdoor Megastore Customer Reviews
Although Outdoor Megastore has plenty of glowing reviews on their website, and probably most of their customers remain silently happy, there are also a number of negative reviews.
One review makes claims of a defective product purchased at Outdoor Megastore, and falling upon deaf, uncaring ears. Another orders 3 goods – 1 expensive, 2 small. The large product was out of stock, but not listed on the website. So the customer was asked if he wanted a refund, which he did, but had to pay postage both ways. Another customer bought an unsuitable product, returned it, but had to chase them for 3 months for a refund. Outdoor Megastore returns policy is very limited.
Outdoor Megastore Returns Policy
For unsuitable goods, they actually charge you £10 for them to pick up and return to you, even if it was outside of your control. For defective goods, they will cover postage expenses up to a price of £6. Which, obviously probably would not fully cover many postal destinations.
The likelihood is that the negative reviews are from one in a thousand customers who are less than 100 percent satisfied (and all directly related to their returns policy), so I would still recommend this website to those interested in getting some outdoor gear, and aren’t to bothered by a returns policy which seems a little unreasonable. There are lots of sites where you can pick up an Outdoor Megastore Discount Code also.
The purchase decision will differ markedly when compared with online stores offering smaller product offerings, such as Wholesale Costume Jewelry Distributors, as it will cost alot less to post back if you don’t like it, or it is faulty. Outdoor Megastores are common across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, so you should be able to buy new and used camping gear in most parts of the developed world in stores either online or retail.
If you want to buy complementary grill accessories, you might consider looking at getting an outdoor picnic table for outdoor kitchen accessories, such as a gas, electric or charcoal grill . If you need parts, check out these Charbroil Grill Parts tips.
